OOLITIC– A driver was arrested early Tuesday in Oolitic after an Indiana State Police trooper suspected operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Zhenia Maksimov, 33, of Bedford, was pulled over on State Road 37 near Main Street.

Indiana State Police Trooper C. Brown observed Maksimov operating a gray 2017 Toyota Camry. The traffic stop was initiated due to a nonworking license plate light. Maksimov was the sole occupant and was in the driver’s seat at the time of the stop.
During the interaction, Trooper Brown noted several observations indicating intoxication, including an odor of an alcoholic beverage, glossy eyes, poor manual dexterity, and poor balance. Maksimov’s speech was also described as slow. A portable breath test administered at the scene registered an alcohol concentration of 0.261 grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath.
Maksimov was advised of the Implied Consent Law but refused a chemical test. A warrant was subsequently obtained.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
