Obituary: Michael Joe Boling

Michael Joe Boling, 75, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025.

He was born on September 26, 1949, in Bedford, Indiana. Michael graduated from Bedford High School in 1967 and later earned his Bachelor’s degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1977. He went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy for 25 years, building a distinguished career that took him to duty stations around the globe, including: San Miguel, Philippines (1969-1971); Northwest, Virginia (1971-1973); Kahiana, Hawaii (1973-1976); Washington, D.C. (1976-1979); London, England (1979-1983); Pyong Taek, South Korea (1983-1984); NSWC Crane, Indiana (1984-1986); Augsburg, Germany (1986-1988); Mayport, Florida (1988-1991); Charleston, South Carolina (1991-1993)

After retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1993, Michael settled in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a devoted member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Jacksonville, where he was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He lived a life marked by service, devotion to family, and commitment to his faith and community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrell and Lois Boling, and brother, Robert Boling. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Emelie Boling of Jacksonville, FL; daughters Carrie Robb (Ryyan) of Bedford, IN, and Michelle Weinberg (Ron) of Jacksonville, FL; grandsons Evan Wilhoyte (Renee) and Chandler Weinberg, both of Jacksonville, FL; brother John Boling of Bloomington, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Michael will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225. A funeral service will be held for Michael on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 10472 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246 followed by a committal service at Hardage – Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
