Woman arrested after pursuit in Jackson and Bartholomew Counties

JACKSON/BARTHOLOMEW CO. – Monday afternoon, May 18, a 32-year-old Chicago, Illinois woman was arrested following a vehicle pursuit on I-65 in Jackson and Bartholomew Counties.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., Trp. Bryce Potraffke was patrolling on I-65 near Seymour, Indiana, when he observed a blue 2019 Volkswagen traveling northbound well more than the posted speed limit.  Trp. Potraffke caught up and attempted to stop the vehicle in northern Jackson County.  The car, driven by Dominique White, 32, of Chicago, Illinois, failed to stop and continued northbound on I-65.

Additional troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, as well as officers from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and Columbus Police Department, joined the pursuit.

White continued northbound on I-65 until a tractor-trailer driver slowed in front of her vehicle near the 67-mile marker on the west side of Columbus, Indiana. White was forced to come to a stop and was taken into custody without further incident.

A four-month-old child, who was not properly restrained, was found in the vehicle with three other occupants.  White was arrested and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary felony charges of Resisting Law Enforcement in a Vehicle and Neglect of a Dependent.  She also faces a misdemeanor charge of Reckless Driving.  The other occupants of the vehicle were released.

Dominique White was incarcerated at the Bartholomew County Jail pending her initial court appearance.

The northbound lanes of I-65 remained slow near Columbus until the scene was cleared.
