According to a Probable Cause Affidavit filed by Bedford Police Captain Nicholas A. Lemke, officers were dispatched to Revere’s Food & Fuel at approximately 8:10 a.m. in response to a report of an unwanted male who had left the store after taking items.

Upon arrival, Captain Lemke located Norrick in front of the Army Surplus store next door, near a white disposable cup. When questioned about the drink, Norrick reportedly stated he got it from Revere’s. Initially, he claimed someone told him it was free, but later admitted that no one had said that and agreed that taking the drink without paying was theft.

Sgt. Gerkin spoke with an employee at Revere’s, who stated that Norrick had been in the store for an extended period and ordered ice cream. Norrick allegedly stated he had no money when presented with the ice cream. He was informed he could not have it and left the store, taking a 24-oz fountain drink without paying the $1.19 pre-tax. Officials at Revere’s Food & Fuel indicated they wished to file charges for the theft.

Norrick was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. Authorities noted that the Bedford Police Department had received 13 calls for service regarding Norrick since May 10, 2025, including reports of loitering and attempted theft from various businesses.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the Probable Cause Affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
