Patterson sets BNL record in high jump

BNL’s Braydon Patterson matched the school mark at 6-8 while winning the high jump in the HHC meet.

JEFFERSONVILLE – Braydon Patterson matched the Bedford North Lawrence school record while winning the high jump during the Hoosier Hills Conference boys track meet on Thursday.

Patterson sailed over 6-8, equaling the mark set by Lane Hawkins in 2019, to earn All-HHC honors in the event.

The Stars finished sixth in the team race with 68 points. Floyd Central won the team title with 145 in the seven-team field.

Other top finishers for BNL included Tripp Stahl (second in the shot put at 49-6.5), Orion Hill (third in the discus at 143-9), Oliver Brown (third in the pole vault at 11-0), Luke Morris (fourth in the 110 high hurdles at 15.98) and Tucker Inman (fourth in the 3200 in 10:14.33).

“The boys did well,” BNL coach Brett Deckard said. “The meet was very competitive, except for Floyd Central. It was good competition getting us ready for the sectional next week.”

BNL will compete in the IHSAA sectional at Brownstown on May 22.
