On May 11, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m., the Lawrence County Dispatch Center received a call from a woman reporting that her boyfriend, Quinton Scholl, had struck her in the face during an argument. The incident reportedly took place near Dixie Highway and State Road 37.

The woman informed dispatch that she was en route to the garden center located across from the vehicle dealerships. Officer Pope, Officer T. Atchison, and Sergeant R. Compton Jr. responded to the call. Dispatch later updated them that Scholl had exited the vehicle and was walking southbound on Dixie Highway. Officer Atchison proceeded to the woman’s location, while Sergeant Compton and Officer Pope intercepted Scholl.

Scholl was located south of where the woman had stopped and was detained without incident. He was read his Miranda Warning and agreed to speak with officers.

Officer Atchison’s interview with the female victim revealed that she had recently discovered Scholl was being unfaithful, leading to a verbal argument. During this argument, Scholl allegedly struck her multiple times on the back of the head at approximately 1:00 a.m. that morning while they were inside her vehicle near the Rabbitsville area. She also stated that their four children were asleep in the back seat of the car at the time of the alleged assault.

Officer Pope observed noticeable bruising on the back and top right side of the woman’s head, consistent with her claim of being struck six to eight times. He also noted light discoloration near her right eye.

The victim was provided with information regarding protective orders and medical evaluation. Photographs of her visible injuries were taken. She was also medically evaluated by IU EMS and cleared.

During an interview, Scholl denied striking the woman, claiming she became agitated upon learning of his infidelity and accused her of hitting him. However, officers reportedly observed no physical marks or injuries on Scholl consistent with being struck. He further alleged that the woman had thrown a cup of coffee at him before officers arrived, prompting him to exit the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Scholl had allegedly thrown the coffee at the female victim, as Officer Atchison noted her clothing was soaked. Officer Pope also observed that Scholl’s clothing was just slightly wet.

Scholl voluntarily provided text messages exchanged between him and the woman. According to the affidavit, the messages showed the woman attempting to call Scholl multiple times, with Scholl asking her to stop and accusing her of blackmail. The woman replied with messages stating, “Answer and I won’t turn you in for hitting me,” followed by “I’m sorry.” However, Officer Pope noted that the messages did not explicitly show the woman admitting to blackmail.

Quinton Scholl was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center, where he was booked on a preliminary charge of domestic battery in the presence of a juvenile less than 16 years old, a Level 6 Felony.

The Lawrence County Department of Child Services was also contacted regarding the incident due to the children’s presence during the alleged altercation.
