Bedford woman accused of disrupting 911 call in late-night clash

BEDFORD– A Bedford woman was arrested early Saturday, May 10th, after allegedly throwing eggs at her ex-boyfriend, attempting to vomit on him, and interfering with his call to 911.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Bedford Police Officer Zakry E. Brooking, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of I Street around 12:30 a.m. on May 10th, in response to a report of a female, identified as Autumn Daugherty, 19, throwing eggs at the vehicle of the male caller.

Dispatch further advised officers that Daugherty was allegedly attempting to vomit on the male and had slapped his phone out of his hand. Upon arrival, officers located the male victim, who stated that 19-year-old Daugherty had left the scene on foot. He described her as wearing gray sweatpants and a gray hoodie. While speaking with the male, he pointed out that Daugherty was returning to the area.

The affidavit states that Daugherty approached the officers in an agitated state, repeatedly saying “just do it already” and holding out her hands as if to be arrested. Officer Brooking attempted to calm her down and asked what was wrong, but Daugherty allegedly continued to escalate, yelling “No!” when asked to sit down and stop screaming. She was subsequently ordered to place her hands behind her back and was handcuffed after resisting. Daugherty was then searched by another officer and put in a patrol vehicle.

The male victim informed Officer Brooking that he had broken up with Daugherty earlier in the day and had already contacted police regarding her behavior. He stated that Daugherty had been sending him numerous messages through a TextNow application and had threatened to egg his house. He admitted to telling her to proceed with the threat after ignoring her messages.

The male recounted waiting behind a parked vehicle when Daugherty approached and threw three eggs. One egg struck the roof of his black 2014 Dodge Charger, and the other two hit him, one on his left arm and one on his back. He also alleged that Daugherty approached him, sticking her fingers in her mouth in an attempt to vomit on him. Regarding the phone incident, the male stated, “Yeah, she smacked the phone out of my hand when I was about to say what she was doing because she didn’t want me to tell the operator what happened.”

Officers observed a ring camera at the male’s residence but were unsure if the incident had been captured. He told the officers he would check the footage and report any damage to his vehicle in daylight.

Photographs were taken of the male, the egg residue on his clothing, the egg on his car, and broken eggs found in his yard and on the roadway.

Autumn Daugherty was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. She faces preliminary charges of disorderly conduct, domestic battery, criminal mischief, and interfering with a report of a crime.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on a probable cause affidavit, representing the investigating officer’s belief that a crime has been committed.
