Small plane crash near Indy South Greenwood Airport results in minor injuries

GREENWOOD– According to the Greenwood Fire Department, a small plane crashed near the Indy South Greenwood Airport on Sunday shortly after noon. The incident occurred when the plane began its flight north from a runway and reportedly lost power.

The pilot was forced to immediately land in a grassy area near the Indiana State Police hangar.

Two individuals who were onboard the aircraft were transported to a local trauma center for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities have indicated that both individuals are expected to make a full recovery.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
