COLUMBUS – A Columbus man is facing felony voyeurism charges after allegedly attempting to film in the women’s locker room of a local fitness center.
According to the Columbus Police Department, the incident occurred Thursday evening at Total Fitness on Middle Road. While showering, an 8-year-old girl reportedly noticed a cell phone being held under the stall.
Fitness center employees were alerted and located 24-year-old Tanner Vandeman inside a women’s shower stall. Employees and bystanders detained Vandeman until police officers arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered recording equipment in Vandeman’s possession. Further investigation revealed that Vandeman had a prior conviction for voyeurism.
Vandeman was arrested and charged with felony voyeurism. Authorities also confiscated his electronic devices as part of the ongoing investigation. The Columbus Police Department stated that additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
