BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after allegedly trespassing at a local Family Dollar store, where he had previously been barred. John Bogue, 46, of Bedford, was arrested following the incident at the store located at 706 16th Street.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Bedford Police Officer Bailey Duprey, officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar on Thursday, May 8, 2025, after employees reported that Bogue, who had been previously trespassed from the location on May 2, 2025, had returned to the premises.
Upon arrival, Officer Duprey spoke with employees who indicated they had video footage of Bogue entering the store. While reviewing the video, another employee informed Officer Duprey that Bogue had returned to the premises. Officer Duprey confronted Bogue and, after asking if he had any weapons, placed him in handcuffs and secured him in a police vehicle.
Stone City Wrecker Service subsequently towed Bogue’s vehicle due to it being improperly parked in a handicapped parking space. During a vehicle inventory, Sergeant Gerkin found marijuana in a sunglasses case within the glove compartment, along with glass smoking devices. These items were collected as evidence.
John Bogue was transported to the Lawrence County Security Center and jailed on the preliminary charges of criminal trespass and possession of marijuana. While at the jail, a protective order was served on Bogue.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the Probable Cause Affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
