Nominations open for 2025 River Friendly Farmer Award

INDIANA – Indiana’s Soil and Water Conservation Districts are now accepting nominations for the prestigious 2025 River Friendly Farmer Award. This annual award recognizes exceptional Indiana farmers who are dedicated to implementing Best Management Practices that actively protect the state’s waterways, including the adoption of soil health practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for local districts to celebrate the efforts of farmers within their communities who are making a significant and lasting positive impact on Indiana’s valuable natural resources.

Each Soil and Water Conservation District is eligible to submit up to two nominations. Fill out the online nomination form by 5 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 6. Complete the required signature page. This page must include three original signatures for verification from the nominee, an SWCD staff person and a technical representative. The signature page must be filled out and either scanned and emailed to Amy Work at: amy-work@iaswcd.org or mailed to IASWCD at 225 S. The River Friendly Farmer Award Ceremony will be on August 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis in the 4-H Exhibit Hall. Check-in will be from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

This award serves as a testament to the vital role farmers play in environmental stewardship and the importance of their commitment to protecting Indiana’s rivers and streams.
