LAWRENCE CO. – A Franklin woman is facing domestic battery charges stemming from an incident on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Lawrence County Police Department Officer Thomas Porter, Tabitha L. McLaughlin, 43, was implicated in a physical altercation at a residence on Airy Hills Lane.

Officer Porter detailed responding to a call reporting a fight between a male and female in the 50 block of Airy Hills Lane. Upon arrival, he encountered the male outside a neighboring residence. He stated that McLaughlin, whom he allowed to stay with him, had kicked him in the stomach after he asked for his phone back. He alleged that McLaughlin threw the phone and then kicked him. He indicated that McLaughlin had walked away towards Harrodsburg Road.
Officer Porter located McLaughlin at the intersection of Harrodsburg Road and Airy Hills Lane. McLaughlin stated that she and the male had been involved in an argument downstairs at the Airy Hills Lane residence.
McLaughlin reportedly stated the male had grabbed her leg. She indicated that tensions in the home were elevated due to a protection order the male’s daughter had placed on her. McLaughlin claimed the argument began when the male accused her of stealing his cigarettes and phone.
Officer Porter stated in the affidavit that he corroborated the male’s statement through a witness.
Based on the investigation, Officer Porter requested the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office review the case and issue a warrant for the arrest of Tabitha L. McLaughlin on charges of domestic battery. She was detained on Thursday, April 24
Warrants were requested for both individuals. This case is being handled by the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office.
