Major west side entry to Washington closing for 90 days starting May 5

WASHINGTON– Commuters who regularly use Old US 50 on the west side of Washington will need to find alternate routes beginning next month.

Daviess County Highway Superintendent Chris Winkler reports a significant portion of Old US 50 will be closed for approximately 90 days starting May 5th.

The closure is necessary to facilitate the replacement of the bridge on Old US 50 west of Washington, as well as the resurfacing of the roadway. According to Winkler, Old U.S. 50 will be shut down between County Road 300 West and County Road 150 West for the duration of the 90-day project.

To help navigate the closure, Winkler stated that detour signs will be strategically placed to guide traffic around the construction zone. Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly and allow for extra time when traveling in this area.
