Suspect in police vehicle theft and shooting incident booked into Kentucky jail; Was out on bond for Lawrence County attempted murder

DAVIESS CO., KY – Nina Devillez, the 31-year-old suspect who was shot multiple times after allegedly stealing a police vehicle, has been booked into the Daviess County Jail in Kentucky following her release from the hospital.

The bizarre incident began in Warrick County, Indiana, and culminated in Daviess County, Kentucky. According to reports and bystander video, the sequence of events started with Devillez, armed with a sword, involved in an altercation with a police officer in Chandler, Indiana. During this confrontation, Devillez was shot before allegedly stealing the officer’s vehicle and fleeing across state lines into Kentucky.

Further witness video captured the dramatic conclusion of the pursuit near Maceo, Kentucky, where Devillez reportedly struggled with law enforcement officers in a field after crashing the stolen police vehicle. Following the incident, Devillez was hospitalized for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.

Adding a significant layer to this case, it has been revealed that at the time of the alleged vehicle theft and shooting, Nina Devillez was out on a $20,000 bond stemming from a 2024 attempted murder case in Lawrence County, Indiana. Devillez is accused of shooting Tommie K. Jones, 44, in a secluded area off US Highway 50. The 2024 incident involved conflicting accounts and 911 calls, with Jones claiming Devillez shot him after luring him to the location, while Devillez alleged self-defense following a claimed assault.

On Wednesday, Devillez was discharged from the hospital and subsequently booked into the Daviess County Jail in Kentucky. She is now facing multiple charges related to this incident in both Indiana and Kentucky.

An arraignment for Devillez was reportedly scheduled for Wednesday morning in Kentucky. Additionally, arrest warrants are now active for Devillez in Warrick County related to the vehicle theft and assault on the officer, as well as the attempted murder case out of Lawrence County.

Indiana State Police officials are continuing to investigate the incident and have urged community members in the areas where the events unfolded to review their security camera footage for any potential additional evidence.
