Bedford Zoning Board approves permit for expanded fuel station on 16th Street

BEDFORD— The City of Bedford Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved a special exception permit Tuesday for a proposed expansion of a local fuel station and convenience store.

The decision followed a preliminary hearing held at the Community Concourse, 1402 H Street, for property owner Bimal “Bobby” Dahl. Dahl is requesting the permit to construct a new convenience store on the lot behind his current gas station, which he said would allow for significant improvements to the existing operation.

Dahl told the board he hopes to begin construction within six weeks. He said the current business will only close temporarily during the transition into the new building, and the fuel pumps will remain in their current location.

The renovation will result in a much larger convenience store, providing customers with expanded retail space and modernized facilities.

Following the discussion, a motion to approve the special exception was made and passed unanimously by the board members.

The approval clears the way for Dahl to begin work on the project, pending any additional permitting requirements.
