LOWELL – Late shift troopers at the Lowell Post conducted a traffic blitz Saturday evening, primarily along I-94 in Lake and Porter Counties.
The six troopers had 97 contacts, issuing 53 warnings and 44 citations. Some of the violations noted by the troopers were speeding, driving while suspended, and seatbelt restraint violations.
There were three criminal defendants arrested, and one vehicle pursuit that troopers terminated as it entered Illinois.
On a positive note, troopers did not encounter any impaired drivers during the blitz.
