Obituary: Carrie Mae Lake

July 20, 1952 – April 18, 2025

Carrie Mae Lake, 72, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away on April 18, 2025. She was born on July 20, 1952. Carrie was a beacon of compassion and care throughout her life. She always placed the needs of others before her own. She worked for 30 years at Ford Factory (Visteon), and later devoted herself to caring for her grandchildren.

Carrie loved feeding her family and friends. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful flower beds and garden. She also enjoyed collecting Boyd Bears. She loved a great find at Goodwill as much as any other. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she was always ready to care for those in need.

Carrie fought her battle with cancer fiercely and bravely for eight years, before laying down her sword.

She leaves behind her husband of 52-years, Charles Lake; Her children, Son, Brian Scott (Brandi), daughter, Carrie Ann (Jeremiah), and Stepson, Eddie Lake; Grandchildren, Bradley, Evan, Clayton, Ella Mae, Jaxson, Parker, and Brooklyn; Great-grandchildren, Harper, Grayson, Maverick, Thomas; Honorary grandchildren, Ciera, Rylan, Gabby (Children, Carter and Oaklynn), Alexis, Nick, Ginger (Children, Hudson, Brezlin, Kyren), Brandon, and Elizabeth; Sisters, Lisa (Husband, Mike, Children, Killian, Brian, Aleesha, and granddaughter, Ellamay), and Delois; Brother, Howard (Children, Toby and Danielle); and her Father, James Kimmel.

Carrie is reunited with her mother, Roscella; her beloved children, Ginger, Jeffrey, Melissa, and Michelle; her granddaughter, Natalie; and Her Sister, Marilian.

Carrie’s life was a testament to the enduring kindness and love she had for her family and friends. Her legacy of caring and compassion will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be greatly missed.

Memorial Services will be conducted at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne George Family Funeral Homes, 818 18th Street, Bedford, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Chris Perry Officiating. Visitation will also be held at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
