Search warrant served, Bedford man arrested on meth charges

BEDFORD – A Bedford man with a history of drug-related convictions was arrested on Tuesday morning after Indiana State Police executed a search warrant at his residence.

Teddy Joe Eggers, 55, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges related to methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

According to a Probable Cause Affidavit, Indiana State Police had received multiple tips over several months indicating that Eggers was allegedly dealing methamphetamine from his residence in the 1000 block of 22nd Street. The reports stated people were making consistent “short stops” at the location at all hours, a pattern often associated with drug activity.

The affidavit, penned by Trooper Chance Humphrey, notes that Eggers has a criminal history involving controlled substances, including guilty pleas for possession of methamphetamine in February, May, and September of 2019, and again in June of 2020.

Based on the ongoing tips, a search warrant for Eggers’s residence was requested and granted on Monday, April 14. The warrant was executed at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15.

Trooper Humphrey stated that three adults were located inside the residence. Eggers was identified as one of the occupants, and his room was identified through medicine bottles and mail bearing his name, as well as being the only bedroom with a bed.

During the search of Eggers’s room, Trooper Humphrey reported locating three glass smoking devices containing meth residue, two used hypodermic syringes were allegedly found in a trash can near where Eggers was sitting when authorities entered the residence.

Following the execution of the search warrant, Eggers was reportedly read his Miranda Rights and agreed to an interview. During the interview, Eggers allegedly admitted that the methamphetamine pipes belonged to him and that he had last smoked methamphetamine two days prior. He denied ownership of the syringes.

The affidavit also notes that this was the second time the Indiana State Police had executed a drug-related search warrant at the residence where Eggers lives. Due to the consistent tips regarding traffic at the residence, Eggers was also arrested for maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony, possession of meth, a Level 6 felony, unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 Felony, a possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. He was subsequently remanded to the Lawrence County Jail.
