SHOALS— Shoals residents are being asked to limit their water usage after the town declared a wastewater emergency.
The request applies to all customers using Shoals Municipal Utilities and urges them to minimize flushing and running water as much as possible.
In response, Shoals Community School Corporation is holding a synchronous e-learning day today.
Officials say the emergency was caused by flooding, which forced the shutdown of several pumps that direct wastewater to the treatment plant.
Service will be restored once the floodwaters recede.
