Bedford Chamber warns public of false email scam

BEDFORD—The Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce is alerting the public to a fraudulent email that claims to be selling the Chamber’s contact list.

In a statement released this week, Chamber officials advised recipients to disregard the email, which originates from a Gmail account, and to flag it as spam.

“We will never use an outside resource such as this one to charge you for this information,” the statement read. “Any of our contacts are easily accessible from our online directory, and if your membership is current, we will gladly provide a list in PDF form or mailing labels per your request.”

The Chamber urged local businesses and residents to remain vigilant against scams and to verify any suspicious emails before taking action.

The email’s content looks like this:

Hi Recipient,

I’m following up, to confirm if you are interested in acquiring the Registrants/Member List.

•   Bedford Area Chamber 2025

•   1,000+ Contacts

So that I can share the cost and other details with you, kindly let me know your opinions.

Regards,
