HUNTINGBURG– With forecasts predicting 10 to 15 inches of rainfall through Sunday, Dubois County officials are taking proactive measures to assist residents in flood preparation. Sand and sandbags are now available at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds in Huntingburg.

To access the supplies, residents should enter the fairgrounds through the main entrance off State Road 162. Proceed straight through the intersection within the fairgrounds and utilize the parking lot on the grounds’ south side.
Officials remind residents to bring shovels to fill the sandbags, as pre-filled bags will not be provided. This allows residents to customize the amount of sand in each bag to suit their specific needs.
Officials stated that the predicted rainfall poses a significant risk of flooding in the community. They encourage residents to use this resource to protect their properties.
Residents are advised to monitor local weather reports and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the expected heavy rainfall.
