Obituary: Dannie E. Beaver

March 14, 1941 – March 30, 2025

Dannie E. Beaver of Bedford passed away quietly in his own home Sunday morning. Dan was 84 years old.

Dan was born to Helen E. Beaver (Allen) and Ralph C. Beaver on March 14, 1941, and was raised in Lawrence County until he joined the United States Air Force in 1959. After serving as a radio/radar technician, he returned home to Bedford.

In 1965, Dan found the love of his life, Oneta M. Ping, from Milroy, IN, and they started their family with their first born, a beautiful girl, Kimberly J. Beaver (Deckard) and shortly to follow a bouncing boy, Scott E. Beaver.

Dan continued to serve his country as a Civil Servant at the Navel Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, until he retired in 1997. Dan also served his community with several organizations throughout the county: he was a Life Member of American Legion Gillen Post 33, a Commander and Adjutant, and Captain of the Honor Guard; a Freemason with Masonic Lodge 14, Shriners International; an Exalted Ruler of the former Elks Lodge; and a Greene Hill Cemetery board member.

Dan is survived by his wife, Oneta; one daughter, Kimberly (Bruce) Deckard; one son, Scott (Tammy) Beaver; one grandson, Marshall Gage (Sydney) Deckard; one great-grandson, Calvin Lee Deckard; one sister, Loretta Cranfield; and several cousins.

Instead of flowers, please donate to the White River Humane Society in Dan’s memory.
