ANGOLA—Education One, a premier charter school authorizer in Indiana, announced recently that Executive Director Lindsay Omlor will be departing to lead the newly created Office of Educational Options and Quality under the Indiana Secretary of Education. This initiative is a key part of Governor Braun’s commitment to expanding school choice across the state.

As Executive Director, Omlor’s professional journey has been fueled by a deep passion for serving students and families. Throughout her tenure, she has been committed to making a meaningful impact on education, pushing boundaries, innovating, and ensuring better opportunities for all students.
Under Omlor’s leadership, Education One has grown from authorizing three schools to over twenty, now serving more than 5,000 K-12 students statewide. The organization has taken an innovative approach to authorizing by differentiating its framework to ensure a more holistic and equitable means for measuring school success. Additionally, persistent advocacy efforts have played a key role in increasing funding for charter schools, directly benefiting students across the state.
While celebrating Omlor’s contributions and her new role in shaping educational opportunities statewide, Education One remains steadfast in its mission to innovate and elevate charter school authorization in Indiana. Over the past decade, Education One has redefined the authorizing landscape by prioritizing strong partnerships, providing comprehensive school support, and ensuring accountability that aligns with the National Association of Charter School Authorizers’ (NACSA) guiding principles.
“Education One has always been more than just an authorizer – we are partners in educational excellence,” said Emily Gaskill, named the Interim Executive Director. “We remain committed to the core values that have made us a leader in this space while also continuing to push boundaries and explore new ways to support schools, educators, and students.” As Interim Executive Director, she is committed to carrying forward the work Omlor has led, ensuring a seamless transition and continued growth for Education One.
“Reflecting on the past decade, I feel immense pride in what we have accomplished together,” said Omlor. “Today, Education One is undeniably a leader in the authorizing space, both statewide and nationally- a testament to our shared commitment to excellence, partnership, and relentless focus on putting students first.” Omlor added, “While I am excited for this next chapter, I have full confidence that the organization will continue its trajectory of excellence under new leadership.”
As Education One transitions, its dedication to its mission of championing policies and practices that ensure all students have access to high-quality education remains strong. With an eye toward future innovation, Education One will continue to reshape and strengthen the charter school landscape in Indiana and beyond.
