LAWRENCE CO. – In the wake of Saturday’s severe storm, Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Brian Sowder expressed his heartfelt appreciation to residents, volunteers, and emergency responders for their collaborative efforts in the cleanup and recovery process.

“I want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone in Lawrence County for your patience this past Saturday as the Highway Department worked to clear the roads following the storm,” stated Sowder. “I am especially grateful to those who volunteered their time and equipment to remove limbs and trees from the roads. Our cleanup efforts will continue throughout the week.”
The storm left a trail of downed trees and debris, making roads impassable and disrupting power lines. Lawrence County Highway Department crews worked tirelessly to restore accessibility, and their dedication was particularly praised.
“I also want to thank the dedicated employees of the Lawrence County Highway Department for leaving their families and working tirelessly to make the roads passable,” Sowder added. “Your efforts were crucial in allowing emergency vehicles and power line workers to restore electricity.”
The county also expressed gratitude to the vital emergency services that were critical to the response.
“Finally, I extend my gratitude to the Sheriff’s Department, firefighters, first responders, and, most importantly, our dispatch workers,” Sowder emphasized. “Your coordination and communication in managing the cleanup and responding to numerous calls from the public were truly commendable. The collective effort of residents, volunteers, and emergency personnel highlights the strong community spirit of Lawrence County in the face of adversity.”
Residents are reminded that cleanup efforts will continue throughout the week and are asked to remain patient and vigilant.
