Runaway horse struck by vehicle in Daviess County

DAVIESS CO. – A vehicle and a runaway horse collided on North 900 East Thursday evening, prompting a response from local law enforcement.

The driver of the vehicle involved reported the incident, stating that the horse was struck and left in the roadway. Bystanders at the scene assisted by blocking traffic to prevent further accidents while authorities searched for the horse’s owner.

Responding officers determined that the horse was part of a horse-drawn buggy operation and possessed a valid Daviess County permit.

Following the collision, the horse was removed from the roadway. The buggy was moved to the side of the road for retrieval in the morning.

No human injuries were reported in the incident, and the circumstances leading to the horse’s escape are currently unknown.
