INDIANA– Joann, the fabric and craft retailer, announced it will close approximately 500 of its 800 stores across the United States as part of its ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.
The company cited the need to “right-size” its store footprint.
Closures will affect all 50 states, with California, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington most heavily impacted.
Stores closing in Indiana:
- James Avenue in Bedford
- 3483 West 3rd Street in Bloomington
- 2610 25th Street in Columbus
- 3703 North Newton Street in Jasper
- 630 Niblack Boulevard in Vincennes
- US 41 in Schererville
- 1916 East 80th Avenue in Merrillville
- 4024 Elkhart Road in Goshen
- 10030 East Washington Street in Indianapolis
- 1361 86th Street West in Indianapolis
- 2130 East Markland Avenue in Kokomo

- 1406 Pilgrim Lane in Plymouth
- 2010 North Wayne Street in Angola
- 5612 Grape Road in Mishawaka
- 1131 East Ireland Road in South Bend
This move follows Joann’s second bankruptcy filing in less than a year, attributed to “acute and unexpected” inventory issues and production slowdowns.
Court documents indicate the closures target underperforming stores that are unlikely to attract buyers during the company’s sale process.
