Expired license plate lands driver in jail on OWI charges

WEST BADEN – A traffic stop for an expired license plate in West Baden resulted in the arrest of a Shoals man for operating while under impaired charges.

On Thursday evening, February 6th, Indiana State Trooper Leah Schnell patrolled State Road 56 when she noticed a vehicle with an expired plate. She initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Caden Millspaugh, 23.

During the interaction, Trooper Schnell observed signs of impairment. Millspaugh was transported to IU Health Hospital in Paoli for a chemical test. He was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail after the test.

Millspaugh is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, a Class A misdemeanor.

Trooper Schnell was the arresting officer, and Trooper Noah Ewing and the West Baden Police Department assisted her.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
