According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Bedford Police Officer Derek Blackwell, officers responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival, officers heard yelling coming from inside the camper. Tillett, who opened the door, told officers he and his girlfriend had been in a verbal argument.

While Officer Blackwell spoke with Tillett, Sergeant Gerkin interviewed Tillett’s girlfriend. She alleged that Tillett had choked her twice, once with one hand and then later with both hands, preventing her from breathing. She also stated that he headbutted her, causing her nose to bleed. The woman signed a battery affidavit.

Tillett reportedly told officers a camera was inside the camper but could not provide the correct password to access the video. He was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.

The female was evaluated by IU Health Ambulance personnel at the scene but declined further medical treatment.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
