Traffic stop lands woman in jail on OWI charges

BEDFORD – Cheyanne Wolf, 26, was arrested on Sunday, January 19, after Bedford Police observed erratic driving and confirmed severe intoxication during a traffic stop.

Officer Taylor Daugherty initiated the stop near John Williams Boulevard and R Street after witnessing Wolf’s vehicle making multiple unexplained lane changes without proper signaling. During the encounter, the officer detected strong signs of intoxication, including the odor of alcohol, slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes.

Field sobriety tests revealed Wolf’s significant impairment. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.261, substantially above the legal limit. Wolf claimed to have consumed only two beers, but an open Bud Light beer was found in her vehicle’s center console.

Wolf was transported to IU Health Hospital for a blood draw and subsequently booked into the Lawrence County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, OWI endangerment, and OWI per se, pending the blood test results.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
