Indiana University Police investigating 13 burglaries across campus

BLOOMINGTON – Between January 4 and 15, the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) received reports of 13 burglaries on campus, many of which occurred at residence halls and a Greek house. The incidents are believed to have taken place while students were away during winter break.

The burglaries were reported in multiple locations, including Ashton Johnson Hall, Forest Quad, and Willkie South, on January 5, 12, and 15. Various items were stolen, including clothing, electronics, a musical instrument, and an amplifier. In one case, a student reported that their room was rummaged through but nothing appeared to be missing.

Seven more students filed reports on January 12 and 13, noting missing items such as electronics, jewelry, and clothing. As of now, IUPD has no known suspects but is investigating a potential lead related to Beta Sigma Psi.

The police urge anyone with information to contact IUPD at 812-855-4111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-317-262-TIPS (8477).

IUPD also shared safety tips to prevent theft, including locking doors and windows, keeping keys and cards with you, and reporting suspicious behavior. For more information, visit IU’s safety page.
