LAWRENCE CO. — A Bedford man is facing multiple felony charges after being arrested on Wednesday, January 15, following an incident at a residence on Middle Avenue.
Travis Joe Rainey, 28, was apprehended by the Lawrence County Police Department after a series of criminal offenses, including residential entry, possession of methamphetamine, and several drug-related charges.

According to an affidavit for probable cause, officers were initially called to a residence on Middle Avenue for a report of an unwanted person. The caller stated that Rainey was inside the home and refusing to leave. While officers were en route, the caller later updated dispatch, saying they believed Rainey had fled to an abandoned house nearby and was wearing a hoodie.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located Rainey near the abandoned property’s doorway. After giving verbal commands for Rainey to exit and turn around, he was taken into custody without incident. Rainey was found carrying a small black bag, which officers searched following his arrest.
The search uncovered several controlled substances, including 21 Gabapentin pills, 45 Cyclobenzaprine pills (two of which were a different color), and a plastic container with a white residue that later tested positive for methamphetamine. Additionally, officers found a small plastic bag containing a gram of crystal meth. A syringe was also located, and Rainey admitted it would test positive for methamphetamine.
Police discovered Rainey had entered the residence without permission, leading to a charge of residential entry. He is also facing charges for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of a legend drug. He was also wanted on a civil warrant. He was transported to the Lawrence County Security Center.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
