INDIANA – Governor Mike Braun’s administration has presented the 2025-2027 biennial budget proposal to the State Budget Committee, outlining a vision for a more efficient government that prioritizes the needs of Hoosier families.

The proposed budget, delivered by Secretary of Management and Budget Lisa Hershman, aims to streamline government operations while focusing on key areas such as tax relief, public safety, and education while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Key Highlights of the Budget Proposal Include:
- K-12 Education: The proposal introduces Universal Choice Scholarships for all families, boosts funding for K-12 schools, and provides a 2% increase in tuition support each year.
- Tax Relief: The budget calls for eliminating the tip tax and the phased-out tax on retirement income and introduces new sales tax holidays to further ease the burden on Hoosiers.
- Public Safety: Significant investments are made in school safety, law enforcement, state police salaries, and a significant funding increase for the Indiana National Guard.
- Fiscal Integrity: The budget proposes increasing the FY26 rainy-day fund by $400 million, controlling the growth of government expenses, and positioning Indiana for a strong financial future.
Governor Braun commented on the proposal: “This budget streamlines government operations while focusing on areas that matter most to Hoosiers—education, tax relief, and public safety. I look forward to working with the legislature to make this proposal a reality and ensure Indiana’s continued success.”
The Governor’s administration hopes the proposal will move forward with bipartisan support and lay the groundwork for Indiana’s continued prosperity over the next two years.
