BEDFORD – Around 9 p.m. Wednesday night, Bedford Police Department officers arrived on the scene of what was reported as a verbal fight between a man and a woman. A witness told officers the couple had moved in a golden Toyota.
When police arrived the car in question was running, parked on the eastern side of the lot.
The Toyota Camry sheltered two men and a woman, with the second man in the back seat. While talking with the driver, who later identified himself as Dason M. Andis (22), the police officer noted the odor of marijuana coming from the car.
The officer asked Andis to exit the vehicle, where he was removed from the others to discuss the complaint. Andis explained that he and his girlfriend, Olivia Weaver, 20, had been arguing over their order. When asked about there being marijuana in the car, Andis said”I don’t think so”.
The two others were asked to leave the vehicle, and once they complied, it was ascertained from their comments that the fight was only verbal. The other man was identified as 31-year-old Bristen Prince.
A search of the car was conducted under probable cause due to the odor. The search returned a metal grinding device containing a plant-like substance, and a fanny pack. The fanny pack contents were as follows:
- a black magnetic box containing a plastic cellophane with a plant-like material inside
- a blue glass smoking device containing a burnt plant-like material
- a metal smoking device commonly known as a “one hitter.”
- and a metallic cylindrical container containing a crystal-like substance in a plastic bag.
The plant-like material was tested and yielded positive for marijuana. The crystal-
like substance also yielded positive for methamphetamine.
Andis, Prince, and Weaver were all separately informed of their rights. None of the three admitted ownership of the fanny pack and its contents, but Andis claimed the marijuana and grinder found in the driver’s door.
Dason, Bristen, and Olivia were all placed under arrest. They were transported to the Bedford
Police Department for processing, then to the Lawrence County Jail. An inventory of evidence was conducted before the vehicle was towed, and the evidence was photographed and placed in lock-up.
Dason Andis, Olivia Weaver (mugshot unavailable), and Bristen Prince were each placed under arrest for:
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Paraphernalia
