Fairmount man arrested on child molestation charges

SUMMITVILLE – On Thursday, May 25, 2023, a Fairmount man was arrested after a ten-month investigation by Detective Dave Preston with the Indiana State Police Pendleton District relating to a child molestation investigation. 

The investigation started in July of 2022 when Detective Dave Preston was requested by the Summitville Police Department to take over a case involving an allegation of child molestation.  During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that additional criminal actions had occurred with multiple juvenile females.  Upon completion of this investigation, the case was turned over to the Madison County Prosecutor, Rodney Cummings for review. 

On May 23, 2023, a warrant was issued for Grant Brown, 20, of Fairmount, Indiana.  Brown reportedly turned himself in at the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. 

Brown is facing two counts of child molesting, a Level 3 felony, two counts of child exploitation, a Level 5 felony, and eight counts of possession of child pornography, a Level 5 felony

Assisting Detective Preston with this investigation were the Summitville Police Department, the Indiana Department of Child Services, and the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office.
