Anderson woman in critical condition after crash on US 35 near Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT –  On Friday, March 24, 2023 at approximately 2:30 pm, troopers with the Indiana State Police were dispatched to a serious crash on US 35 just south of Mt. Pleasant.

When Sergeant Nick Albrecht arrived at the scene, he located a gray 2023 Ford Focus with heavy front-end damage and a white 2020 Ford Transport van with heavy front-end damage on its passenger side.

When medical personnel made their way to the Ford Focus, they located the driver, Tiffany Starkey, 38, of Anderson, Indiana.  Ms. Starkey was transported to Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana, and transferred to Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Her family has been notified about her condition.

The driver of the Ford Transport was identified as Tatyanna Myers, 24, of Lithonia, Georgia.  Both Myers and her female passenger were transported to Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Investigation Team indicates the Ford Transport van was traveling southbound on US 35 and, for an unknown reason, crossed the center line into the path of the northbound Ford Focus.  The crash is still under investigation.

US 35 south of Mt. Pleasant was closed for approximately 4 hours while the crash was being investigated.

Assisting Sergeant Nick Albrecht with the investigation was Trooper Jacob Ridgeway.

Assisting with the crash were the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Delaware County EMS, Delaware County EMA, Liberty Fire Department, Muncie Fire Department, and Northwest Towing.
