Connor Wright announces candidacy for Bloomington City Council District 3

BLOOMINGTON – Politically involved undergraduate IU Bloomington student and leader, Conner Wright, filed to run for Bloomington City Council District III which he now lives in because of last year’s
redistricting.

District III includes many wonderful parts of Bloomington including beautiful parks like Griffy Lake, student heavy housing developments such as Stadium Crossing, and great businesses like Bruster’s Real Ice Cream.

The district comprises the precincts: Bloomington 7, 8, 9, 10, 16, 21, 22, and 23.

Conner wants to focus primarily on solving Bloomington’s growing housing affordability crisis, improving transportation throughout the city including but not limited to public transit, walking, and cycling, and protecting our community’s environment for generations to come. He has seen the impact many of these issues have firsthand when cycling and walking around Bloomington and trying to find an apartment to live in that won’t break the bank each year.

He also understands the power city governments possess to solve those problems as a result of his
experience working for the City of Fishers’ Planning and Zoning Department in 2021.

Throughout Conner’s life he has demonstrated an ability to lead and a willingness to give back
to his community. His proudest moment was completing his Eagle Scout Project at his local elementary school which involved improving a nature center to enhance learning opportunities for young kids.

He has also volunteered extensively for federal, state, and local campaigns where he has met many inspiring public servants who fueled his desire to make Bloomington the best city it can possibly be.

Conner fell in love with Bloomington ever since he stepped foot in the city limits. Whether he was eating at Mother Bear’s Pizza with his Boy Scout Troop during summer camp, going to an IU sporting event, or hiking at Griffy Lake or many other local parks, Bloomington found a special place in his heart. That is why Conner is excited to announce he is running for Bloomington City Council District III and cannot wait to see what the future has in store for Bloomington!
