Mark Andrew Houchin, 63, formerly of Mitchell, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at his residence.
Born September 26, 1959, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, he was the son of Charles Omer and Janice Mae Houchin.
Mark was a 1977 graduate of Mitchell High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State University and a Master’s Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Mark worked as a science teacher at Cascade Middle School, where he also coached swimming. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, grilling, and was an avid sports fan.
Surviving is his sisters, Mary Houchin of Brownsburg and Sarah (Steve) Jennings of Bedford; nephew, Jerod Jennings of Mitchell; and niece, Samantha Jennings of Nashville, Tennessee.
His parents and brother, Paul Houchin, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16th in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Greg Matthew officiating. Cremation has been chosen with burial in Mitchell Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service, on Sunday, at the funeral home.
