Lane Closures Scheduled For State Road 37 Near Mitchell For Pavement Rehab

(MITCHELL) – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane closures for State Road 37 for pavement rehabilitation near Mitchell.

Beginning on or around Thursday, March 28, contractors will begin a $7.7 million concrete pavement restoration project and will close down the northbound lanes of State Road 37 from about a half mile south of the junction of State Road 60 to just north of the US 50 junction.
During that time, northbound traffic will be routed into the southbound lanes via median crossovers, which are already under construction as of this writing.
This method allows for two-way traffic for the duration of the project. Lane closures and a strict 45 mile per hour speed limit will be in place around the clock.
This project will see both concrete patching and total pavement replacement in certain areas. Some sections where joints are distressed or where there are breaks in the concrete pavement in otherwise viable sections of the pavement will be patched and made smooth. Other sections where the pavement has experienced more significant damage or failure will see the total replacement of the concrete driving surface.
Depending upon weather conditions work is expected to be complete by late August. Inclement weather could cause delays in the operation.
INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
