(SCOTT CO.) – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving Inc. plans to close a section of Hardy Lake Road starting on or after Monday, Jan. 18., to begin work on a multi-structure replacement project.

The project is divided into three sections, two of which require approximately 30-day road closures. Construction is scheduled as follows, weather permitting:

  • Mid-February to mid-March (33 days): Hardy Lake Road closed from S.R. 256 to Burn Road – four new pipe structures and box culvert installed under roadway
  • Mid-March to mid-April (21 days): Flagging operations on Hardy Lake Road north of Harrod Road – two new pipe structures installed under roadway

The official detour for both closures will follow Whitsitt Road to Burn Road and/or Harrod Road. Local access will be maintained for residents in the area.

The $894,000 contract was awarded in August 2020 and is expected to be complete by April 30, 2021, however crews may remain active through late August. Motorists are reminded to slow down, use extra caution and drive distraction-free in and near work zones. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
