PAOLI – Bedford North Lawrence recorded three match wins in the second round of the Paoli Invitational during girls high school tennis action on Saturday.
The Stars carded victories at No.1 singles (Emma Conover), No.2 singles (Jada Key) and No.1 doubles (Emma Voris and Elizabeth Miskuf) during the second series of round-robin play.
Conover conquered Paoli’s Morgan Flannery 6-1, 7-5, while Key stopped Southwestern’s Lilly Eggenspiller 6-1, 4-6, 10-6. In doubles, Voris and Miskuf vanquished Paoli’s Natalie Cole and Jozie Simcox 6-2, 6-0.
“I am really proud of these girls for fighting it out,” BNL coach Jennifer Edwards said. “We had some girls playing new positions for the first time. I thought Jada played really well, she was moving her feet and fighting for every point.
”We tried out two new doubles teams, and they both had good chemistry and communication. Emma Conover played a great second match. She was consistent and played smart. She paid attention to her opponent and made changes when she needed to.
”Overall, it was a great day of tennis and the girls were much improved.”
The Stars will visit Bloomington North on Monday.
