Bob Evans announces candidacy for County Commissioner District 1

BEDFORD – Bob Evans has announced his candidacy for County Commissioner District 1.

Evans is a lifelong resident of the Needmore area, graduating from Needmore High School. He is a US Army Veteran and owned and operated his business, Evans Body Shop in Needmore, and later moved his business to Bedford, opening up Limestone Capital Automotive, serving the citizens of Lawrence County for sixty years, before retiring three years ago. He served as the Marshall Township Clerk for the Marshall Township Trustee for 36 ½ years.

He has worked closely with prior Commissioners Charlie Hilenburg and Mel Hammel on various projects for the county. He owned and operated Evans Construction & Heavy Equipment, gaining him insight into the many facets of building and maintenance.

He also served on the North Lawrence Community School Board from 1998 to 2003. He was a member of the Noon Lions Club, where he served as President and Tail Twister.

In 2005, he was appointed to the South Central Regional Sewer Board by then-Governor Mitch Daniels and continues to serve as a board member. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Bedford, serving as a Deacon and has served as a Trustee. He is also a 56-year member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge.

He, along with his wife, Susan, has raised 3 children.

“Having owned and operated my own business for 60 years, I am a physical conservative, where I feel doing my due diligence, finding the best price for quality work,” said Evans. “I will work tirelessly for the best opportunities for the best price to maintain our roads, bridges, and all the county property with the appropriated funds.”
