BEDFORD – The Bedford Police Department requested an arrest warrant for a local man following an incident involving property damage and alleged animal cruelty at the Stalker Apartments on Monday night.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer A. Manke, 40-year-old Jesse Myers faces preliminary charges of criminal mischief and animal cruelty following an investigation at the apartment complex located at 1429 8th Street.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:51 p.m. on February 16, 2026, after receiving reports of a broken window. Upon arrival, police spoke with the female complainant, who stated that an argument with Myers escalated after he returned from a local bar in an intoxicated state.
While the female told officers that Myers did not physically harm her, she detailed a disturbing encounter involving her pet. According to the affidavit, the female reported that Myers became aggressive with her cat, allegedly pulling out small clumps of the animal’s hair.
Officers observed small clumps of cat hair on a wooden bookstand in the lobby and noted visible spots on the cat where hair appeared to be missing.
After being asked to leave, Myers allegedly punched a double-paned door, causing the glass to crack.
While officers were on the scene, Myers reportedly called the complainant and claimed he had been threatened, an allegation the female denied. Officer Duprey attempted to interview Myers over the phone at the time, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
Police conducted extra patrols in the area on the night of the incident, but were unable to locate Myers.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Meyers’ arrest. He was detained on April 4.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
