COLUMBUS, OH – United Producers, Inc. (UPI), the Midwest’s largest livestock marketing cooperative, recently hosted a national, and entirely virtual, 23,000 head feeder calf sale at the Ohio Beef Expo. The sale was held in partnership with the Ohio Beef Expo and LiveAg – a progressive livestock marketing platform that hosts online video sales for livestock and equipment. Over 21,000 head of cattle were sold during the sale in a format that met evolving customer needs in a changing beef industry.

“This large-scale, virtual sale is a testament to the strength of our producer network and the growing demand for innovative marketing solutions in the livestock industry,” said Andy Pinnick, Senior Director of Livestock Operations. “By partnering with LiveAg, we’re able to expand our reach and create more value for our members. It’s about making sure producers have every opportunity to succeed in today’s evolving marketplace.”
The Ohio Beef Expo offered a timely opportunity to harness the innovative sale platform, with the event bringing together producers, exhibitors, businesses, and many others involved in the beef industry and its future. The LiveAg sale operated through video footage, allowing buyers to bid on loads of cattle. Post-show, cattle buyer representatives work directly with buyers to manage sorting, loading, and transporting to the buyer.
By leveraging UPI’s extensive experience in livestock marketing and LiveAg’s innovative auction technology, producers gain a competitive edge in the online marketplace. The partnership enhances visibility for producers, attracts a broader pool of buyers, and streamlines the sale process. UPI members now have a new opportunity to buy and sell quality cattle with confidence in front of a larger, more competitive audience.
UPI serves 30,000 members in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Tennessee, handling approximately 2.7 million head of livestock per year. UPI also offers risk management services, including marketing agreements and brokerage services, and offers competitive agricultural lending products for real estate, farm, operating, and livestock financing.
