Springville woman arrested for meth possession while being prepared to be released from jail

LAWRENCE COUNTY — A Springville woman was arrested Thursday after a small amount of methamphetamine was discovered in her property while she was in the Lawrence County Jail.

Michelle Evans

Lawrence County Police Officer Michael Martin reported that corrections officers found a crystal-like substance inside a locket belonging to Michelle Evans, 53, while preparing her for release. The locket, which had a rose design, contained a small baggie that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

The substance, weighing approximately 0.12 grams, was collected as evidence, photographed, and secured in the sheriff’s department evidence locker. Evans was arrested on site and is facing charges for possession of methamphetamine.
