BNL completes Tennessee road trip with three losses during final day

BNL coach Brad Gilbert and the Stars opened the 2026 season with a tournament in Tennessee.

MURFREESBORO, Tn. – Bedford North Lawrence capped its season-opening road trip with three losses to teams from Tennessee during the final day of the Southern Warrior Classic on Saturday.

The Stars (0-5) suffered setbacks to Lawrence County (11-8 in five innings), Smyrna (15-1 in five innings) and Crockett County (4-2).

”We got what we wanted, we play games and got to see a bunch of pitching,” BNL coach Brad Gilbert said. “There were times we had good at-bats, which is what we have to take away from this weekend. We got better, we’re just building from our mistakes.”

Lawrence Co. 11, BNL 8 – The Lady Cats (3-7-1) rallied from a 7-0 deficit with a seven-run third, then scored four in the bottom of the fifth to win. Audrie Lovell smacked a three-run double in the bottom of the fifth to break an 8-8 deadlock. The game was cut short by time limit.

The Stars scored four in the first as Adalynn Bailey stroked a bases-loaded single, while more runs scored on ground outs. BNL added three more in the third as Bailey cracked a run-scoring single and Kadynn Canada pounded a two-run double.

Lawrence County countered with six hits for the seven runs in the third. Annie Loyd had a bases-loaded double and Karli Vanpelt added a two-run triple during the comeback.

BNL took an 8-7 lead in the fourth on Karsyn Coleman’s RBI double.

”We had 7-0 lead and that’s what we have to learn,” Gilbert said. “If we make some plays, we probably win that game. Those are things we have to learn. when have a team on the ropes, we have to put them away.”

Smyrna 15, BNL 1 – The Bulldogs (4-7-1) took control quickly, scoring multiple runs during the first three frames en route to a mercy-rule victory.

Sara Williams accounted for the BNL scoring with home run in the third.

Smyrna scored seven runs in the third, highlighted by Elizabeth Librero’s grand slam. Charleigh Bailliez had three hits for the winners.

Crockett Co. 4, BNL 2 – The Cavaliers (14-2) scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to snap a 2-2 deadlock.

The Stars took advantage of an error for a run in the second, and Macee Nicholson led off the third with a home run to center.

Crockett County opened the scoring in the first, then took a 2-0 lead on Macie Teel’s two-out double. Nataly Amador singled in the go-ahead run in the fourth, then the Cavaliers added an insurance run with three singles and a fielder’s choice in the sixth.

Anna Stallings earned the win in the circle for Crockett County, allowing seven hits while striking out seven. Jaden Schofield had two hits for the Stars. Amador led Crockett County with four hits.

“That might have been the best team we played, so that was a great sign,” Gilbert said. “Our kids were tired, so I’m really proud of the effort. We really challenged them that last game, give everything they have, and they played well.”

BN will return to Indiana soil to visit Jasper on Thursday.
