BNL drops first two games in Southern Warrior Classic

MURFREESBORO, Tn. – Bedford North Lawrence opened the 2026 season with two losses during the first day of the Southern Warrior Classic on Friday.

The Stars suffered an 8-3 loss to Colbert Heights (Ala.) in the debut, then fell to Summertown (Tn.) by a 17-3 final in four innings in the second game.

Colbert Heights 8, BNL 3 – In the first game, the Wildcats (15-1) shattered a 3-3 deadlock with five runs in the top of the seventh inning. Addison Holcomb drilled a two-run home run to break the stalemate.

The Stars erased a 3-0 deficit in the sixth. With two outs, Karsyn Coleman singled, Adalynn Bailey singled to left to chase in one run, and the second run scored on an outfield error. Bailey stole home for the tying run.

Colbert Heights scored three in the third with Holcomb slugging a two-run homer to center.

BNL was limited to four hits. Colbert Heights starter Eydie Keenum allowed one earned run and fanned five while going the distance in the circle. Colbert Heights totaled 14 hits, as Holcomb went 2-for-4 with four RBIs while Keenum led Colbert Heights with three hits.

Summertown 17, BNL 3 – In the second game, the Eagles (6-3) exploded for 12 runs in the second inning en route to the mercy-rule victory.

Sara Williams had two hits and scored twice for BNL. Aislee Wilkinson blasted a grand slam during a five-run first. Wilkinson added a two-run double in the second.

BNL will finish the event with three games on Saturday, facing Lawrence County (Tn.), Smyrna (Tn.) and Crockett County (Tn.).
