Half a million dollars of methamphetamine discovered during DOT inspection

PUTNAM COUNTY – On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., an Indiana State Police Trooper stopped a white Freightliner semi tractor-trailer on I-70 at the 41 mile-marker eastbound, for a routine DOT compliance inspection. 

During conversations with the driver, criminal indicators were observed and a probable cause search was conducted.  
     
During the search, the trooper found 100 pounds of methamphetamine in the trailer along with a handgun in the cab of the truck.   
 
The driver, Kemar Brown, 33, of San Bernardino, California, was taken into custody without incident on charges of dealing meth, a Level 2 felony and possession of meth, a Level 3 felony. He was transported to the Putnam County Jail.
