Bloomfield woman arrested after pursuit; Police forcibly removed her from the vehicle

BEDFORD A traffic stop for minor infractions escalated into a felony arrest early Sunday morning after a driver allegedly led police on a pursuit and refused to exit her vehicle.

Jessica Lynn Crosby, 41, of Bloomfield, was taken into custody on March 15, 2026, and faces multiple charges related to resisting law enforcement.

The incident began at approximately 1:01 AM when Officer Taylor Daugherty observed a black 2014 Lincoln MKS traveling northbound on State Road 37. According to the probable cause affidavit, the vehicle crossed the white fog line multiple times and had an illegible license plate due to an obstructive plastic cover.

Officer Daugherty initiated a traffic stop near 16th Street, activating emergency lights and sirens. However, the vehicle allegedly continued north, passing several safe areas to pull over and driving through the intersection at John Williams Boulevard before finally coming to a stop near 5th Street.

Due to the driver’s failure to stop, Bedford Police conducted a high-risk “felony stop”. Officers issued multiple verbal commands for the driver to show her hands and exit the vehicle, both in person and over a patrol car’s PA system.

When Crosby failed to comply, officers approached the car and found the doors locked. Captain Max Uebelhoer informed Crosby she was being detained and warned her that her window would be broken if she did not step out. Following her continued refusal, Captain Uebelhoer used a department-issued baton to break the driver’s side window.

Officers reported that Crosby had to be forcibly removed from the vehicle and continued to pull away from police while being handcuffed. After being read her Miranda rights, Crosby initially refused to identify herself but eventually provided her information.

When asked why she did not pull over, Crosby reportedly told officers, “I had my head down, because the lights were shining me in my eyes,” later claiming she did not see the emergency lights at all.

Crosby was arrested on charges of resisting arrest by fleeing in a vehicle and resisting arrest by force.

Crosby was transported to the Lawrence County Jail for housing. Her vehicle was inventoried and towed from the scene.
