MITCHELL — A custody exchange at a local pharmacy turned physical Wednesday evening, leading to a domestic battery investigation involving a Paoli woman.

Autumn L. Marshall, 49, is the subject of a probable cause affidavit filed by the Mitchell Police Department following an incident at the CVS Pharmacy on State Road 60 West.
According to the affidavit filed by Colonel Jacob Kuhlman, officers were dispatched to the pharmacy at approximately 7:05 p.m. on February 18, 2026, regarding a report of a domestic physical disturbance. Upon arrival, police observed Autumn Marshall and her ex-husband engaged in a verbal argument.
A witness at the scene reported that the conflict began during a scheduled exchange of the former couple’s two children, ages 6 and 7. The witness stated that Marshall became “irate” upon seeing the male’s girlfriend in the vehicle. The witness alleged that Marshall approached the vehicle, struck the male in the face, and attempted to break the windows to reach the passenger.
The male victim informed officers that Marshall “flipped out” and slapped him multiple times while pulling at his clothing. Colonel Kuhlman noted that while the male did not have visible injuries, his shirt was wrinkled and twisted in the chest area, which was consistent with someone grabbing the material forcefully.
When questioned by the police, Marshall admitted to being upset by the presence of his girlfriend. She claimed her own glasses were knocked off during the exchange and that she “grabbed him” because she could not see without them. She described the situation as “upsetting for the kids.”
Because the altercation occurred in the direct presence of the two young children, the Mitchell Police Department contacted the Indiana Department of Child Services to open a report.
The male victim completed a Domestic Violence Lethality Screen and signed a battery affidavit at the scene. The case was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for her arrest on a charge of domestic battery. She was detained on Friday, March 6th.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
