Senator Eric Koch champions resolution honoring America’s 250th Anniversary

INDIANA — State Senator Eric Koch (R-Bedford) is leading the charge to commemorate a historic milestone in American history. On Thursday, Feb. 12, Sen. Koch formally recognized the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence by presenting Senate Resolution 21 before the full Senate.

The resolution honors the foundational document signed on July 4, 1776, marking nearly two and a half centuries of American self-governance.

During the session, Sen. Koch welcomed members of the Indiana Semiquincentennial Commission, a body dedicated to planning the state’s participation in the “America 250” celebrations. The Senator presented the commission with the resolution as a testament to Indiana’s commitment to honoring the nation’s legacy of liberty and independence.

The presentation serves as a kickoff for statewide efforts to engage Hoosiers in the 2026 celebrations, reflecting on the historical significance of the country’s founding.
